Dadi's Glasses

Dadi’s Glasses :
Dadi, on a bright Sunday morning , ordered everybody to clean the house all day. She said, “Oh Dear! The house has become so dirty. I have an idea. Today, we all shall clean our home! This is our today’s mission, and the name of this mission will be Mission Jhadu Pocha!” Dadi
had a bad habit to make us work on SUNDAYS ONLY. This mission made us all puzzled. We all were in revolt of this mission. But, as Dadi was the eldest person in the house, rest of the family members had to agree unwillingly.
Dadi made all of us wear a scarf on our head,
as if we were going to the Indian Border for a Secret Mission! She distributed the work areas among all of us. She gave mother
the work to clean the floors. Father was given the task of cleaning
the ceiling fans. Me and my sister were given the huge task
of clearing all the leaves in the garden.
While we were working, I suddenly got a question that where in the world was Dadi working!? I asked this question to all the other Family Members cleaning the house. All of them said that they didn’t know where Dadi was! I started searching for her. I searched the whole house. I even checked under my school notebooks for clues, but, sadly, there were no clues there. I ran into the kitchen to find her. And when I reached the kitchen,
to my astonishment, I had found Dadi eating the laddoos that Mother had made for the pooja in the evening. Dadi was strictly prohibited
From even touching the sweet dishes from the doctors as she had Diabetes. My mother used to do pooja in the Sunday Evenings. She prayed to god to forget the mistakes that we made in the previous week and bless us for the coming week. Coming back to the story, when I had found Dadi eating all the laddoos rapidly, Dadi, nervously, asked me, “Why have you come here, little brat!?” “I was searching for you in the whole house. I just wanted to ask you that what and where in the world were you working?” I spoke.
While asking me why I had come there to disturb her, she pushed the table away. In that table, she had kept her glasses. As she had pushed the table to stand up, her glasses
fell on the floor and went under the sofa.
For answering my question, Dadi replied,” I have become old, I can’t work.” “ But you can fold the clothes and keep them in the cupboard.” I spoke. Dadi became angry
and went in her room shutting her door harshly. After seeing this, I also went back to the garden for cleaning it. After sometime, I heard a bang noise, it was coming from Dadi’s room. We all rushed to her room to see what happened. When we reached there, we saw that Dadi had broken the glass of water that was kept there so that when she would take her medicines, she wouldn’t need to come to the kitchen to take water. When we asked her what happened, she told us that she wanted to drink water, but she accidently hit
the glass which made it fall on the floor. I noticed that while Dadi was talking, she wasn’t wearing her glasses. I immediately asked her that where were her glasses. But she said that she also didn’t know where on earth her glasses had gone.
This was a mystery and I loved mysteries.
I took my notebook and pencil and asked her what she had done the whole day. She told that last when she had worn her glasses was when she was in the kitchen. I went there
and started my investigation. We all looked everywhere, but, to our dismay, when we couldn’t find any clue for her glasses, I went on the sofa and pounded myself on it hard. The sofa slipped a little back, and,
to my surprise, yes it was there, Its Dadi’s glasses! When I told this to Dadi, she hugged me tightly and blessed me.
